Paul D. Colbenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Colbenson, has been named, valedictorian of the 1937 graduating class of Rushford High school, having attained an average of 96 per cent during his four years of high school. Dorothy Eggen, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. C. A. Eggen, with an average of 95.5 per cent will be salutatorian. Others in the class of 31 who have an average of B or over, in order of their rank, are as follows: Norman C. Mindrum, Ruth E. Nordgaard, Thelma V. Moran, Mildred H. Tassen, Olga Mae Scott, Elaine Marker and Robert D. Reishus. The following seniors were elected to the National Honor Society: Paul Colbenson, Norman Mindrum and Thelma Moran. Dorothy Eggen was elected In her junior year. Ruth E. Olstad was chosen from this year's junior class. Minnesota college scholarships were awarded to Paul Colbenson and Dorothy Eggen. Each year the . American Legion presents an award to a boy and a girl from trie senior class. The award is based on scholarship, courage, character, service and leadership. Paul Colbenson and Dorothy Eggen were chosen to receive the awards this year. In addition, the school presents two citizenship awards on the basis of service, leadership, character and scholarship. This year they were given to Norman Mindrum and Dorothy Eggen. Class day exercises jwill be. held Thursday evening, May 27, in the school auditorium, and on Friday evening, May 28, the annual Junior-senior prom will be held in the auditorium. Commencement exercises for the 55th graduating class of the school, the first class to be graduated in the new auditorium, will be conducted Friday, June 11, with the Rev. William S. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad A. Eggen, Rushford, Minn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy, to Norman C. Mindrum, son of Otto C. Mindrum, Rushford. Miss Eggen is an instructor in home economics in the high school at Faribault, Minn. Mr. Mindrum is instructor of vocational agriculture at Plummer, Minn.
