I believe that Leonard is actually Gunlaug's brother Erick's son, as he was born 4/12/1903, the same day Erick's wife, Lina died in childbirth. Erick never remarried and had 5 other children age 9 and
under. I believe that Gunlaug took her brother's child in as this was a common practice. She would have been 49 years old at the time and according to the Overland history had 10 children.
{He was kind of a black sheep and estranged from his sibs as he was an alcoholic and general
