During his tour of duty, he served with the 2nd Armed Division in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on 4 May 1980 and returned to Colorado where he was employed as a security guard. He then moved to Michigan where he worked as a custodian at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for a short time. In 1985, Larry moved to Gray and was employed on a farm near Manning. Larry worked for Schmidt Masonry from 1986 until 1991 when he was forced to retire due to failing health. Preceding him in death were his father, Edwin Joppa and his brother, Harry Joppa. Survivors include his wife{, Sandra Joppa of Audubon}; his stepchildren; his mother, Margaret Joppa of Ft. Morgan, CO; two sisters; one brother. [5, 6]
