Ernest G. Jerome, 78, a former longtime Yonkers resident, died Thursday at his home in Fort Myers, Fla., after a long illness. Mr. Jerome was born July 17, 1906 in Yonkers and graduated from the former HIgh School of Commerce. He served in World War II as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard's radio communications division. Mr. Jerome was employed by the N.Y. Central Railroad from 1923 until his retirement as treasurer in 1968 and also had worked as treasurer of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad. In 1952, he married the former Ellen Susted in the former St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She survives. Also surviving are a stepson, {Warren Montgomery, of Coatsville, Pa}., a daughter, {Mrs. John Beckett, of Fort Myers}; a brother , Jeremiah of Yonkers; and several grandchilren. [1, 4, 6]
