- April 14, 1898 - Carl Hallan has opened his wagon repair shop in the building formerly occupied as a farm machinery warehouse opposite Joerg's gallery.
September 1, 1898 - Ad in Spring Grove Herald -- C. M. Hallan - woodworker and wagon maker. All kinds of repairing done and first-class work Guaranteed. -- only the best materials used - Opposite Ballard House, Spring Grove.
Oct 6, 1898 - Carl M. Hallan has commenced the erection of a residence building on his lots in the village. Mr. Hallan has worked up a splendid business in his line as wheelwright. Carl is an energetic and reliable young man and will undoubtedly continue to prosper at his trade.
Jan 12, 1899 - C. M. Hallan Woodworker and Wagonmaker opposite Ballard House, Spring Grove. C. M. Hallan is now located in Iver Seby's Blacksmith Shop.
Oct 24, 1907 - Farewell Surprise -- Friends of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hallan congregated at the opera house in this city on Monday evening to show their respect and esteem towards this good family, who has lived in our midst for the past years, but who are not to move to La Crosse, Wisconsin where Mr. Hallan is employed as a foreman for a carpenter crew in the employ of one of the leading contractors in said city. A purse of money was presented to Mr. Hallan as a token of good will and esteem from his many friends and Brown Anderson voiced the sentiment of those present in the following neat speech:
There's an old saying that has often been said, and said well, "you never miss the water till the well runs dry" and we won't miss Carl Hallan till we've said Carl Hallan good bye--it's our loss but La Crosse's gain.
Dancing was enjoyed by both young and old and about midnight a dainty supper was served which was enjoyed by everybody. Towards the wee hours of the morning everybody departed for their respective homes satisfied that they had spent a very pleasant evening.
