    • Burdick Allen Stewart, 74, one-time Pittsfield assessor and former commander of Bartlett camp, Sons of Veterans, died this afternoon at 5 at his home, 37 Burbank street, following a week's illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Stewart, who was Miss Minnie Belle Hoag, died August 2, last. Mr. Stewart was born at North Adams June 24, 1864, and had lived at Pittsfield 40 years. In 1933 he retired on a pension from the General Electric works where he had been employed for more than 40 years. He started with the old Stanley Electric Manufacturing company. An assessor for one term of there years, Mr. Stewart also represented ward 2 in the old common council. He was a Republican in politics. A charter member of Bartlett camp, which was chartered April 11, 1890, Mr. Stewart maintained his interest in the Sons of Veterans organization until the last. For 25 years he was associated with Edward C. Boutwell of the city licensing board in decorating the graves of Civil war soldiers in Pittsfield cemeteries for Memorial day. He was a member of the first Methodist church and a former member of Onota council, Royal Areanum. The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Clayton W. Pratt of Sarasota, Fla., two sons, Dr. Harrison N., of Washington, D. C. and Charles E. Stewart, athletic coach at Pittsfield high school.
