      Well Known NorwayTownship Pioneer Passes Away
      Halvor Erickson, of Bratsberg, passed away at his home at 4 a. m., Tuesday morning, May 3, 1904. Deceased was born in Kvidiseid, Prestegjeld, Norway, August 12, 1829. 0n September 9, 1851, he left his mother country and started out to seek his fortune in America. Arriving in the United States, he spent two years in Wisconsin and Iowa, then came to Minnesota, settling on the farm where he resided up to his death. November 12, 1854, at Decorah, Iowa, be was united in marriage, to Carrie Overland. Twelve children were the results of this marriage; six of whom, with his widow, survive him. The living children are Mrs. T. S. Evenson, Mrs. Lars Jensen, Mrs. Ole Benson, Stener at Milan, this state; Ole at Knox, N. D.; and Carl at home. Ten years ago Mr. Erickson visited his childhood's home in Norway. On his return here and while at Detroit, Mich., he suffered a severe sun stroke,, from the effects of which he never fully recovered. Later a complication of kidney trouble and other diseases set in and becoming worse he passed away, as stated, on Tuesday morning. The funeral will occur Saturday, from the house at 1 o'clock p.m.; and he will be interred in the Highland Prairie Lutheran cemetery. Mr. Erickson was one of the oldest pioneer settlers in the town and was highly respected by all. His death comes as a sad blow to his sorrowing wife and children who have the heartfelt sympathy
      of all.
