- Tradition told to "the four brothers" by their father, William Anderson, son of Robert II, and by them to my father, showed that Catherine Graham was a close kinswoman of James Montrose, the great marquis.
Certain it is that her mother, a Graham widow with an infant daughter, had taken refuge in Ulster, Ireland, at the time of the Revolution of 1688.
