  Notes	Charles Clarence Stevens was born October 15, 1875 in Grand Meadows, Minn. He passed away at the Community Hospital in Sargent, Neb. on June 15, 1969, at the age of 93 years 8 months. He was the third child of a family of seven children born to Franklin J. Stevens and Elizabeth Stevens. Ater the death of his mother when he was eleven years old, his father brought him to Ainsworth, Nebr. where he lived with various relatives. In 1889 Charlie left Ainsworth and went back to Minnesota. At an early age he worked in a flour mill there. In the summer of 1896, he joined a company of men to drill for the Spanish American War. He saw no action, however. Charlie came back to Nebraska in 1901 and settled on a kinkade in Cherry County. On June 5, 1907, he was married to Bonnie Bell Willhoit. In 1909 he brought his wife to Antelpe Valley in Custer County to make their home. In a few years they moved to a farm six miles northwest of Sargent and reared their only child, a son, Clifford Edgar, born November 26, 1916. When Clifford had to go into the service of World War II, Charlie and his wife Bonne, left the farm and moved to Sargent. His wife passed away July 23, 1949. He worked for the telephone company for several years. When Charlie became 80 years old, he made his home with Clifford and his family until his death. Charlie had a wonderful zest for life, an inspiration for those about him and a genuine concern for others. Besides his loving son, Clifford, he leaves to morn his daughter-in-law, Carol, grandchildren, Sherry and husband Gary Coffman of Ord NE, Garland and Laurel, one sister, Olive E Stevens of York NE, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
