    • Louie L. Girdner, son of Andrew Mack and Martha Girdner, born April 17, 1871, and Minnie Girdner, born July 11, 1872, were married August 23, 1890. They were the parents of Erdie, born May 30, 1891, and Francis Lee, born November 16, 1893. Louie L. Girdner was a carpenter and a cabinetmaker. At the age of 13, he helped build the Chicago & Milwaukee R. R. through Powersville. L. L. was a well know contractor and built many of the buildings around Mercer square as well as many of the homes in Mercer and surrounding towns. He also contracted buildings and houses in Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico and California. He was never idle and he worked until he was 80 years old, then he started fishing and liked to give away the fish he caught. Everyone knew Louie and Minnie. L. L. said to loaf was a hard job for him. He passed away August 15, 1961 at the age of 90 and Minnie in 1870, age 98.
