- He was a successful farmer in Ridgebury, a widely known and respected citizen of the Town of Ridgefield, and a valued member of the Congrgational Church and Society of Ridgebury, where he and his family were prominent leaders of the church music. He sold his farm in Ridgebury about 1862, and bought another at Brookfield, where they lived until about 1875, when they sold again and moved to Bethel, and subsequently to Danbury, where he purchased a homestead, 47 Division street, where he died after a brief illness.
