Peter Harker, a well known Burlington employe, died at his home in Pierce street yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, one day before his birthday. He would have been 62 years old today. Death followed in the wake of a stroke of apoplexy. It was reported almost a week ago that Mr. Harker was dead and flowers were ordered by friends in several shops, including the Beacon-News, where his son, Fred, is employed. But when it seemed that Mr. Harker had died he made a great rally and so strongly did he fight, it looked in the middle of the week as tho he might yet pull thru. It was not to be however. Mr. Harker, a blacksmith, was with the Burlington for 37 years. He was born in Luxemburg May 11, 1857. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow, Margaret, five children, MIchael and Fred and Mrs. William Barbel, Mrs. Edward Marting and Mrs. J. Van Ham, and two brothers and a sister. One brother, Anthony, lives in Bristol, while the other brother and the sister live in Europe. Two children born to Mr. and Mrs. Harker died. There are eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from the house and at 9:30 o'clock from St. Joseph's church. Interment at Mount Olivet.
