    Notes
    • Word was received this morning by Goodlow Grouse of the death of his daughter Mrs. T. J. Davis, Jr. at Englewood, Colorado. Mrs. Davis, who was Gladys Grouse before her marriage, had been a patient at the Swedish National Sanitarium at Englewood for the past year. She passed away at 1 o'clock this morning according to the dispatch from Mr. Davis. The body will arrive over the Burlington at 10:31 tomorrow morning and will be taken to the J. D. Gordon funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Gladys Grouse Davis was the daughter of Goodlow Grouse and Mary Girdner Grouse, members of pioneering families of Jackson township, where the deceased was born and where she spent her girlhood days. She received her common school education in the rural schools of that township. With her parents she moved to Chillicothe and attended the high school of this city where she was graduated in the class of 1906. Following her graduation here she went to the University of Missouri graduating from that institution in 1910. Mrs. Davis became identified with the Chillicothe High School in the capacity of teacher of English and History upon her graduation from the University. She also spent two summers at the University of Colorado at Boulder doing postgraduate work. Besides for work here as a teacher, Mrs. Davis spent one year in Puerto Rico where she was connected with the school of that island and for several years was a teacher in the grade school and Central High School of Kansas City. During several summers she represented the White Myers Chautauquas. June 6, 1924 she was married to T. J. Davis, Jr. of Kansas City. They resided in Wichita, Kansas until Mrs. Davis' health necessitated their moving to Denver in the summer of 1925. Besides her parents and her husband, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Will Anderson of Littleton, Colorado. Gladys Grouse Davis was a splendid student, a successful teacher and a loving devoted daughter, sister and wife. She possessed a sunny disposition and had a host of friends here besides many relatives to mourn her passing. [4]
