      Was a native of Ireland. Born 1795. Came to the United States with his parents when 11 years old in 1806. His father Nathaniel and mother Sarah (Neusum) Tackaberry were born in Ireland. They had 4 sons and 5 daughters whom they brought up in the Town of Eaton. James married in 1818 Ann Belton, also of Ireland. They werre married in Eaton and lived their lives in that Town. They had 8 sons and 4 daughters. Only 1 died in infancy. Elizabeth (Mrs. James Bauder of Canastota), Nathaniel J., Robert, a publisher in Dakota, George of Canastota, Wesley of Detroit, Michigan, Henry, a farmer on the old homestead, John, a teacher in Madison Village, Margaret (Mrs. Harrison Darrow of Denver, Colorado), Sarah J. (Mrs. Harlow Hopkins), Susanna (Mrs. James W. Marshall of Stockbridge) and Samuel. Most of the family are buried on the Bear Path Road.
