- John J. Harker, 77, of Sugar Grove, died Tuesday in Copley Memorial Hospital. He was born April 5, 1896 in Aurora. Hr. Harker was a member of Sugar Grove Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Post 520 American Legion of Big Rock and was a director of Jericho Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Alice (Kern); a daughter; five granddaughters; a great-grandson; three brothers, Amel Harker of Montgomery, Ferdinand Harker of Plano and Oliver Harker of Bristol; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Burton of Elgin, Mrs. Margaret Greyer and Mrs. Madeline Nickels, both of Sugar Grove and Mrs. Tressa Goodale of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and by a daughter, Shirley Harker. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Healy Chapel. The Rev. James D. McKelvey will officiate. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
