- Orville A. Schroeder, 78, died Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Orville was born Oct. 17, 1931, to Walter and Ella Schroeder in Elgin Township, Wabasha County. He graduated from Elgin High School and then attended Technical School in Minneapolis for Television and Radio Repair. Orville married Barbara Mindrum on May 19, 1956, in Elgin. He was co-owner and worked at Nelson T.V. and Appliance in Rochester; he later owned and operated Schroeder's T.V. Service for many years until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked for Dunlap & Seeger Law Firm. Orville enjoyed fishing, and watching the Vikings and Twins; and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The couple is a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Orville is survived by his wife{, Barbara of Rochester}; his two daughters{, Val Schroeder of Camano Island, Wash., and Jennifer Schroeder of Rochester}; his son{, Jeffrey Schroeder of Eden Prairie}; two grandchildren{, Joseph Schroeder and Christopher Schroeder}; his two brothers{, Wilfred Schroeder of Marshfield, Wis., and Alton Schroeder of Elgin}; his sister{, Lucille Sell of Elgin}; and his sister-in-law{, Lu Schroeder of Texas}. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. A private family burial will be held at Elgin Cemetery.
