- Mrs. Mary Alice Olsen, 80, resident of the Adna district the past nine years, died at her home there today. She was born at Viola, Wisc., June 29, 1862. Surviving are her husband, Charles; son Russell, Adna; four daughters, Mrs. C. W. Lee, Chehalis; Mrs. John Baxter, Snohomish; Mrs. Gus Diesslin, Hanford, Calif., and Miss Inez M. Olson, Adna; two brothers, Charles Morrow, Visalia, Calif., and Bert, Wishon, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. H. H. Folsom, Greenfield Center, N.Y. and Mrs. William Featherolf, Baltimore Md., and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Olsen was a member of the Ladies' Aid of the Evangelical church at Adna, the Women's Missionary society and the Home Economics society. The body is at the Fissell mortuary pending funeral arrangements.
Mary Alice died of cancer of the colon. [1, 2]

- Mary Alice was a brother to Charles Morrow who married Julia Olsen , whowas Charles' sister so their children were "double cousins."., , On May 8, 1890 Charles Olsen and his brothers Peter and James, , broughta house and farmland on the Black River from two single , brothers wholived in Oregon. They paid the Whitte brothers $750.00 , for the landand house or about $9.37 an acre! On February 1894 the , brothers Peterand James sold their interest in 40 acres of the , property, along withthe house, to their brother Charles for the sum , of $1.00., , Charles and Mary Alice lived on the farm near the Black River, , whereCharlie worked primarily as a logger and also did some farming. , Hefelled timber in the extensive White Pine forests which then , coveredmost of Wisconsin, and would also help float logs down the , river tothe mills.
