    • Elvin S. (Tudy). Dubbs, 52 years of age and a lifetime resident of Rushiord died suddenly at his home in Rushford on Tuesday evening August 7th. Death was caused by a heart attack. Tudy was born at Rushford on June 30, 1910, one of thirteen children of Thomas and Hannah Dubbs. On July 7, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elberta Eggen of Rushford. The ceremony was performed in Minneapolis. To this union were born a son and a daughter, Daniel and Merrie Sue. Tudy had been employed for 35 years by the same firm, the Rushford Wagon Co., and later the Miller Chevrolet Co. He was sales manager for the. Miller Chevrolet Co. at the time of his death. He was a member of the Rushford Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. During World War II he served in the Air Force for 42 months. He was a member of the Murphy-Johnson Post of the American Legion, the Joseph M. Johnson Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ferndale Country Club, and the Rushford Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of Chevrolet's Salesmen Legion of Leaders for 13 years, and Buick's Royal Purple Sales Masters. He is survived by his wife, Elberta; one daughter, Merrie Sue, 13; one son, Daniel, 11; seven brothers, Arthur of Simms, Montana ; Norman of La Crosse, Lawrence of Milbank, South Dakota; Holand of Houston; and Wallace, Harry. and Maynard of Rushford; and five sisters, Mrs. Herbert.,(Olga) Schonsby of Marquette, Michigan; Mrs. Florence Kingsford of Missoula, Montana; Mrs. Cora Howard of Winona; and Mrs. Peter (Mabel) Rislove and Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Berg, both of Rushford. Also surviving are numerous nieces .and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, August 10th at 2:00 o'clock at the Rushford Lutheran Church with Pastor M. Eugene Foehringer officiating. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery, with the American Legion In charge of the graveside services. The pall bearers were Wilton Peterson, James Engrav, Arthur Miller, Winton Christenson, Frank Whitehouse and Leonard Reishus. Having lived here all his life, Tudy was very well known throughout the entire area, and was well liked by everyone. Friendly and jovial, he was the kind of a fellow you couldn't help but like. He will be greatly missed by his relatives and his many, many friends. A host of friends and relatives came from near and far to pay their last respects to Tudy --just one swell guy everybody knew and liked.
